Cybersecurity Engineer

Phoenix, AZ
The Opportunity: We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our client’s team and help design, develop, test, and secure applications across modern cloud and on-premises environments. In this role, you will apply strong software engineering practices while embedding security throughout the development lifecycle. You will collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions and contribute to ongoing improvements in compliance, data protection, and risk mitigation.

  • Work Location: Phoenix, AZ
  • Project Duration: 12 Month Contract

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and secure software applications and systems
  • Build applications using consistent development practices, tools, and common components
  • Perform code reviews and secure code reviews, incorporating automated testing for quality assurance
  • Monitor and support applications across test, integration, and production environments
  • Implement and maintain security controls, encryption technologies, and compliance measures (GDPR, DPP, etc.)
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle
  • Research and evaluate emerging security threats, tools, and technologies
  • Draft and maintain technical documentation, including security assessments and remediation reports
  • Align technology solutions with organizational and regulatory requirements

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
  • Experience in application development, software engineering, and distributed systems
  • Strong knowledge of application security, cloud security management, and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency with Java 8+, Spring, Python (Django preferred), React JS, and Node JS
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or Oracle
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and automated testing frameworks
  • Knowledge of scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for security automation tasks
  • Preferred certifications: Security (CSSLP, GWEB, GCIH, CEH, GSEC, CASE, CCNA) or Developer (OCP, OCA, OCM, CKAD, ACE, CCSP, Professional Cloud Developer)
